Lin Adrian is associate professor of mediation at the Faculty of Law, University of Copenhagen. She is director of the Faculty’s executive, postgraduate and interdisciplinary Master in Mediation and Conflict Resolution. In addition to teaching at the university, she teaches at other universities in Denmark and abroad. She also teaches and trains practitioners as well as speaks on mediation in numerous settings outside the university. Furthermore, she is a practicing mediator in primarily workplace, business and family disputes.
Lin Adrian’s main area of research is alternative dispute resolution (ADR), especially mediation. However, she is also interested in conflict resolution more generally, including negotiation and civil procedure. She is involved in research projects in other areas as well, currently projects investigating victims’ perceptions of the judicial process and investigating the use of technology in law. Much of her research is empirical and interdisciplinary in nature and she especially uses sociological methodology in combination with legal analysis in her research projects.
She has published numerous articles and book chapters on mediation and other dispute resolution processes, edited three books and authored two book, one of which is a handbook on mediation for practitioners.

Lin Adrian ist außerordentliche Professorin für Mediation an der Juristischen Fakultät der Universität Kopenhagen. Sie ist Leiterin des Exekutiv-, Postgraduierten- und interdisziplinären Masterstudiengangs Mediation und Konfliktlösung. Neben der Lehre an der Universität lehrt sie an anderen Universitäten in Dänemark und im Ausland. Sie unterrichtet und trainiert auch PraktikerInnen und spricht über Mediation in zahlreichen Bereichen außerhalb der Universität. Darüber hinaus ist sie praktizierende Mediatorin in vorwiegend arbeitsrechtlichen, geschäftlichen und familiären Auseinandersetzungen.
Lin Adrians Forschungsschwerpunkt ist die alternative Streitbeilegung (ADR), insbesondere die Mediation. Sie interessiert sich aber auch allgemein für Konfliktlösung, einschließlich Verhandlung und Zivilverfahren. Auch in anderen Bereichen ist sie an Forschungsprojekten beteiligt, die sich derzeit mit der Wahrnehmung von Opfern des Gerichtsverfahrens und dem Einsatz von Technologie im Recht beschäftigen. Ein großer Teil ihrer Forschung ist empirischer und interdisziplinärer Natur, wobei sie in ihren Forschungsprojekten vor allem soziologische Methodik in Kombination mit juristischer Analyse einsetzt.
Sie hat zahlreiche Artikel und Buchkapitel über Mediation und andere Streitbeilegungsverfahren veröffentlicht, drei Bücher herausgegeben und zwei Bücher verfasst, von denen eines ein Handbuch über Mediation für Praktiker ist.
